A direct and compassionate approach to therapy.

In-Person Psychotherapy in New York City with virtual sessions available throughout New York State

Whatever brought you here, therapy isn't just for crisis.

There are times in life when we feel stuck, unable to move forward in the ways we would like, when our familiar ways of coping don't work as well as they once did. Sometimes we can look at our life and see success, accomplishment, friends and family, but we still feel like something is missing or incomplete. Perhaps we want more for ourselves, but cannot imagine how to get there, or even what the "more" looks like.

Therapy can be a tremendous help to overcome these hurdles and move forward.

I’m Staci Perelman,

a New York City–based psychotherapist and psychoanalyst.

I work with people who are curious about themselves. Who want to understand not just what is happening in their lives, but why — and what they might do differently.

My approach draws from both psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy, which means we'll look at patterns that go deeper while staying connected to what's happening in your life right now. I bring warmth and genuine engagement to this work, coupled with honesty and reflection.

More about my background

This is a safe and nonjudgmental space where you will be able to see yourself, your relationships, and your patterns a little more clearly.

Ways to work together.

  • Individual Therapy

We'll work together to understand what's driving the patterns and feelings that keep showing up in your life, and figure out what you actually want instead.

  • Couples Therapy

When communication keeps breaking down, or the same fights keep circling back, it's often because of something deeper. I help partners slow down and hear each other to find a more honest, compassionate way forward.

  • Clinical Supervision

Supervision is a reflective, intellectually engaged process that draws on psychodynamic and relational frameworks, with room for real questions, uncertainty, and growth.

It is a joy to be hidden, and a disaster not to be found.

— D.W. Winnicott
